Know Your Caribbean believes that education, done the right way, can change the lives of people of all ages who have a longing to reconnect to their heritage.
The diaspora collectively has been severed from their history, heritage and culture, having to navigate around texts and educational curriculums that they cannot relate to. This disconnect has proven to lead to frustrations with identity and belonging in a Westernised society, where historically we have been marginalised.
Know Your Caribbean targets these frustrations by carefully curating talks and workshops for persons of all ages, using innovative and original material, attendees will learn alternative narratives to slavery, Caribbean history and be opened up to factual events that have been brushed out of our text books. Breaking the regurgitated narratives about our history both good and bad, whilst creating a foundation of celebration and empowerment for the diaspora moving forward.
